Paraplanner
Edinburgh | Hybrid working | Salary up to £50,000 plus benefits
We are currently recruiting an experienced Paraplanner on behalf of a fast-growing, privately owned firm of Chartered Financial Planners in Edinburgh.
This is one of the largest boutique financial planning businesses in the area, working predominantly with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients. Approximately half of its clients are trusts and charities, creating exposure to interesting and technically complex planning work.
The firm has recently moved into new offices in Edinburgh and is continuing to expand. It recruits based on quality and is looking for an experienced Paraplanner who can contribute to its continued growth.
The Role
You will provide technical support to highly qualified Financial Planners, helping to deliver comprehensive advice to private clients, families, trusts, and charities.
The work is varied and will include:
- Pensions
- Investments
- Trusts
- Estate planning
- Offshore bonds
- Wider wealth-planning matters
Depending on your experience and preferred way of working, you may either join a pooled Paraplanning team or work more closely with one or two individual Financial Planners. The structure will be discussed at the interview, giving you the opportunity to express a preference for building a close working relationship with particular Advisers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
