About the Company Our client is a well-established and respected financial planning firm with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality advice and exceptional client service. The business has built long-standing relationships with its clients by providing professional, personal and comprehensive financial planning support. You will be joining a close-knit and experienced team where collaboration is central to the way the business operates. Due to continued growth, the firm is now looking to appoint an experienced Paraplanner who shares its commitment to delivering excellent client outcomes.

The Opportunity As a Paraplanner, you will work closely with Financial Advisers and the wider administration team to provide high-quality technical and research support. You will play an important role in developing suitable financial planning recommendations, preparing accurate and compliant suitability reports and ensuring client cases progress efficiently from initial research through to implementation. This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys the technical side of financial planning, takes pride in producing accurate work and wants to join a friendly, professional and supportive business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate, clear and compliant suitability reports covering pensions, investments, mortgages, protection and retirement planning.
  • Review client fact-finds, objectives, financial circumstances and risk profiles.
  • Identify any missing information required before recommendations can be prepared.
  • Conduct detailed technical research using industry tools, provider platforms and internal resources.
  • Analyse existing pensions, investments and protection arrangements.
  • Prepare recommendations for review and approval by Financial Advisers.
  • Produce illustrations, comparisons, financial calculations and cashflow modelling where required.
  • Support pension transfers, investment switches, ISA transfers, protection applications and ongoing client review work.
  • Liaise with pension providers, investment platforms, insurers and other third parties to obtain technical information.
  • Work closely with advisers and administrators to ensure cases progress accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain complete and accurate client records using Intelligent Office.
  • Ensure all communications, recommendations and case notes are fully documented.
  • Ensure all work complies with FCA regulations, Consumer Duty requirements and internal compliance procedures.
  • Provide technical support and research assistance to Financial Advisers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve internal processes, case management and client service.
  • Support colleagues across the business when required.

About You We are looking for an experienced and technically capable Paraplanner who is highly organised, dependable and comfortable managing multiple client cases. You will enjoy working collaboratively while also being confident managing your own workload and taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work.

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of three years’ experience working as a Paraplanner within an Independent Financial Adviser or financial planning practice.
  • Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning, or actively working towards completion.
  • Strong suitability report-writing experience.
  • Good technical knowledge of pensions, investments, protection and wider financial planning.
  • A sound understanding of FCA regulations and Consumer Duty requirements.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple cases and prioritise competing deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive approach to professional and technical development.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience using Intelligent Office.
  • Experience working with Quilter.
  • Familiarity with platforms and providers including Royal London, Prudential, AJ Bell and Aviva.
  • Experience using cashflow-modelling software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
