Technical Consultant (Paraplanner)
Are you a technically strong Paraplanner looking to take your next step in a collaborative, high-performing financial planning team? We’re looking for a Technical Consultant to provide expert support to our advisers and help deliver exceptional client outcomes.
The Role
As a Technical Consultant (Paraplanner), you will play a pivotal role in supporting Financial Planners by preparing high-quality, compliant, and tailored financial recommendations. You’ll analyse client data, conduct in-depth research, and produce suitability reports, ensuring every piece of advice is aligned to client goals and regulatory standards. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to complex client cases, work alongside Chartered Financial Planners, and be part of a team that values technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Advice Delivery
- Analyse client circumstances, objectives, and attitude to risk
- Conduct detailed research across pensions, investments, protection, and tax planning
- Prepare high-quality suitability reports and recommendation documents
- Provide technical expertise to support advisers on complex cases

Client & Case Management
- Work closely with Financial Planners to design appropriate client strategies
- Ensure all client files are complete, accurate, and fully compliant
- Support the implementation of advice and maintain smooth client journeys
- Liaise with clients, providers, and professional connections where required
Compliance & Risk
- Ensure all work meets FCA regulations and internal standards
- Maintain accurate client records and audit trails (CRM systems)
- Keep up to date with regulatory, legislative, and product developments
Operational Excellence
- Manage workload effectively to meet deadlines and SLAs
- Use internal systems to maintain and update client data
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency within the team

What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Paraplanner within a UK financial advice firm
- Strong technical knowledge of pensions, investments, protection, and tax planning
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail, and analytical skills
- Strong communication and relationship-building ability
- Proficiency in financial planning tools and Microsoft Office
Qualifications
Essential: Diploma in Financial Planning (DipPFS)
Desirable: Working towards Chartered status (Level 6)
