Paraplanner / Trainee Financial Adviser

High Wycombe

Up to £48,000 + Study Support + Career Path to Advice

Full-time | Office-based for first 6 months, then hybrid (4 days office / 1 day WFH)

A highly regarded independent wealth management firm is seeking an ambitious Paraplanner who is looking to take the next step towards becoming a Financial Adviser.

This is a rare opportunity to join a growing advisory business that already has an established client bank and is actively looking to develop its next generation of advisers. You’ll work closely with experienced advisers, receive mentoring and support, and follow a structured pathway into a client-facing advisory role.

Whether you’re already Diploma qualified or nearing completion of Level 4, this role offers the chance to transition from technical paraplanning into advice while being supported by a collaborative and experienced team.

The Opportunity

The business has an existing client portfolio that requires additional servicing capacity, creating an excellent platform for someone looking to make the move into financial advice.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Initially, you will work within a paraplanning capacity, supporting advisers with research, report writing and financial planning recommendations. As your knowledge, qualifications and confidence develop, you’ll have the opportunity to shadow experienced advisers, attend meetings and begin building your own advisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting advisers with research and suitability report preparation
  • Conducting pension, investment and financial planning research
  • Assisting with cashflow modelling and financial planning analysis
  • Preparing recommendations and client review documentation
  • Attending client meetings alongside experienced advisers
  • Developing advisory and relationship management skills
  • Building knowledge across pensions, investments, protection and retirement planning
  • Working towards a transition into a client-facing adviser role

  • Experience working as a Paraplanner within an IFA or Wealth Management firm
  • Progress towards the Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (or already qualified)
  • Strong technical financial planning knowledge
  • Experience producing suitability reports and conducting research
  • A genuine ambition to become a Financial Adviser
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
