Location: Bromsgrove, Worcestershire Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 DOE Working Pattern: Hybrid

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paraplanner Manager to join a successful financial planning team based in Bromsgrove.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing and developing a team of approximately 10 Paraplanners, ensuring the delivery of accurate, compliant and high-quality financial planning research and reports within agreed service levels.

This is a hands-on management role, combining team leadership and development with technical paraplanning expertise. You will act as a key point of contact for the team, supporting with complex queries, coaching and training, whilst also contributing to wider projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, motivate and develop a team of approximately 10 Paraplanners.
  • Recruit and support the development of a high-calibre paraplanning team.
  • Provide effective day-to-day operational management, addressing staffing, workflow and resource requirements.
  • Hold regular one-to-one meetings and contribute to wider team meetings.
  • Identify individual and team training requirements and ensure appropriate development is delivered.
  • Provide regular feedback, coaching and mentoring to enhance performance and service quality.
  • Carry out regular quality checks on financial planning reports, turnaround times and adherence to established processes.
  • Work closely with the wider paraplanning management team to ensure a consistent and effective service.
  • Ensure the team operates in line with FCA regulations, company policies, procedures and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor workflow and ensure agreed SLAs and key performance indicators are consistently achieved.
  • Produce and review management information relating to team performance and workflow.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the implementation of more efficient ways of working.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the team, including assistance with tax and other complex financial calculations.
  • Research and review new and existing legislation, products and technical information.
  • Maintain strong communication with Financial Advisers, providing regular case updates and escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Ensure client and provider information is accurately maintained on relevant back-office systems.
  • Support the team in maintaining high standards of professional and technical knowledge.
  • Participate in wider business and team projects, ensuring agreed deadlines are met.
  • Support the introduction and delivery of training for new team members.

Experience, knowledge and qualifications

  • Diploma in Financial Planning or equivalent, as a minimum requirement.
  • Strong experience within a paraplanning environment, ideally within an IFA or financial planning business.
  • Proven experience of managing, coaching and developing a team of Paraplanners.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of personal financial planning.
  • Experience producing high-quality financial planning research and suitability reports.
  • Good understanding of FCA regulations, compliance requirements and financial planning processes.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience dealing with complex calculations and technical financial planning matters.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Commitment to maintaining technical knowledge and ongoing professional development.
