Job Summary

To welcome the guest upon their entry into the restaurant and ensure that their first impression is a pleasant one. To ensure a memorable welcome and fond farewell and create lasting dining experiences. To manage overall reservations and seating requirements, taking into consideration guests’ preferences and restaurant business needs.

Candidate Profile

Experience

  • Previous experience working within a F&B environment preferred

  • Strong Communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
  • Proactive and reliable
  • Positive demeanor, professional and personable
  • Ability to manage stress and multi-task.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good level of English essential

Specific Tasks

The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:

  • To greet customers in a friendly and courteous manner upon their entry into the restaurant and escort all guests to their respective tables
  • To hold and safely store any coats, bags, hats, or umbrellas for guests of the restaurant
  • To maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and observe all aspects of safety – being mindful of furniture, fixtures, and fittings and make sure you 'clean as you go' in order to ensure a clean and tidy work area
  • To regularly arrange and replace all flowers within the restaurant, as well as regularly change the water in all flower vases
  • To ensure that the guest's bill is posted accurately on Micros and that the correct table number is assigned to them
  • To ensure that payment is received from all guests and to make sure that the bill is signed and that their room number and name are clearly legible
  • To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene, and meet hotel grooming and uniform standards and to follow service excellence standards at all times
  • To ensure the Cashier Tally Sheets are accurate and any discrepancies are noted and signed by a supervisor
  • To ensure Account and House charges are recorded accurately and signed by a supervisor or manager
  • To be empowered to deal with guest problems, through following the LEARN process and complete guest response forms, and to seek advice when unsure what to do
  • To promote awareness of health, safety, and security within the department for associates and guests (e.g. fire alert points, exits, extinguishers, table clips, etc.)
  • To answer the telephone in a friendly and courteous manner and to be able to manage and log all reservations and bookings
  • To make sure all necessary paperwork, forms, and menus are fully stocked and well presented
  • To perform the correct duties and operations connected with the handling of the float
  • To be able to set up the till and Micros at the beginning of each shift
  • To update the staff timesheets
  • To be actively responsible for all currency transactions throughout the day and to accurately cash up and fill out the correct documentation at the end of each shift
  • To carry out any other duty/function that may be assigned by the immediate Manager

Safety and Security

  • To adhere to the Weights and Measures Act and food hygiene standards
  • To promote awareness of health and safety, for example, fire alert points, exits, fire extinguishers, trip hazards, etc.
  • Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment for other team members and guests
  • To maintain the highest level of cleanliness. To ‘Clean as you go’ to ensure a clean and tidy work area, and to follow the routine cleaning schedule
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager
  • Complete safety training and certifications
  • Wear appropriate PPE and employ correct manual handling procedures to avoid injury
  • Protect the privacy and security of guests and your co-workers

  • To carry out any other duty/function that may be assigned by immediate Supervisor, Manager, Department Head, or Executive Committee member
  • To maintain a high standard of grooming, hygiene, and uniform standards, ensuring that your name badge is worn
  • Support all co-workers and treat them with dignity and respect
  • To develop and maintain healthy inter-departmental relationships, support the team to reach common goals
  • Comply with Marriott International Hotels Limited regional office and hotel policies and procedures
