Country Park Warden – 4 Month Contract
Location: Swindon
Rate: £13.90 per hour
Contract: 4 Month Contract
Hours: 37 Hours Per Week
Pay: Bi-weekly
Summary
Join our dynamic Parks and Open Spaces team as a Country Park Warden for a 4-month contract. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of a popular Country Park, enhancing visitor experience through the management of attractions like the Pitch & Putt Course, Crazy Golf Course, and Splash Park. The position demands a proactive approach to maintaining a safe, welcoming environment and involves regular weekend and bank holiday work.
Responsibilities
Pitch & Putt Operations
- Operate the kiosk, sell tickets, and process payments.
- Issue golf equipment and sell refreshments.
- Re-stock kiosks and provide visitor assistance.
Pitch & Putt & Crazy Golf Maintenance
- Open and close facilities daily.
- Maintain greens and course areas.
- Operate mowers and manage vegetation.
Splash Park Operations
- Conduct safety checks and monitor visitor numbers.
- Enforce rules and maintain facilities.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks.

Park Maintenance & Environmental Duties
- Assist with litter picking, bin emptying, and vegetation management.
- Support general grounds maintenance activities.
Inspections & Safety
- Assist with safety inspections and report issues.
- Ensure all facilities are safe for visitors.
Customer Service & Public Engagement
- Provide excellent customer service and information.
- Engage with customers, contractors, and event organisers.
Events & Community Support
- Assist with park events and support external organisers.
- Represent the Local Authority professionally.
Requirements
Essential
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Experience handling cash and card transactions.
- Basic numeracy skills and outdoor maintenance capability.
- Fluent English and ability to travel within the borough.

Desirable
- Full UK Driving Licence and DBS Certificate.
- Experience in parks, leisure, or environmental services.
- Proficiency with ride-on or pedestrian mowers.
- Customer-facing experience.
Working Environment
- Based in Swindon, working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Regular public interaction with weekend and bank holiday work.
- Physical activity and occasional borough-wide travel required.
