Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Part-Time Receptionist to join the Parkside Private Patients team at Heatherwood Hospital.

The post holder will provide a professional, welcoming, and efficient front-of-house service for private patients, visitors, and consultants, ensuring an excellent patient experience at all times. Responsibilities include managing patient bookings, preparing documentation, processing patient and insurance details, supporting billing processes, and responding to enquiries in a timely and courteous manner.

The successful candidate will possess excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.

Working Hours

  • Thursday: 2.00pm to 8.00pm
  • Friday: 1.00pm to 6.00pm

The role requires a flexible and professional approach, maintaining high standards of confidentiality and customer care while supporting the smooth operation of the Parkside Private Patients service.

Main Duties of the Job

  • First point of contact for private patients, visitors, and consultants attending the Parkside Suite.
  • Provides reception and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the service.
  • Manages patient appointments, enquiries, and clinic administration.
  • Maintains accurate patient, insurance, and payment records.
  • Supports the private patient billing process through effective documentation management.
  • Handles confidential information in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Works independently and as part of the wider Parkside team to deliver an excellent patient experience.
  • Provide an efficient Reception service to the Parkside Suite, Heatherwood.
  • Ensure all visitors to Parkside receive outstanding customer experience.

Person Specification

Skills & Knowledge

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent IT skills with Microsoft knowledge.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to communicate effectively with all levels of customer, both internal and external.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of Private Healthcare.
  • Knowledge of hospital IT programs; EPIC, Compucare.

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Previously delivered exceptional customer service within a 5-star setting.
  • Experience of working in a customer-facing role.
  • Experience delivering high standards of customer service and administration in a busy environment.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working in a healthcare, private healthcare, reception, or front-of-house setting.
  • Experience of working within a Reception/Front of House team.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

Desirable Criteria

  • Customer service delivery/hospitality course.
