The Company

Eden Scott Accountancy & Finance Division is delighted to be supporting a highly successful engineering firm based in Livingston with the appointment of a part-time Bookkeeper. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business operating within Scotland’s advanced manufacturing and technology sector.

Our client is a specialist engineering organisation with a strong reputation for innovation & technical expertise, where the business continues to expand its global presence from its Livingston headquarters.


The Role

This part-time position (16–20 hours per week) will support the finance function onsite, offering flexibility around working pattern. The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day transactional finance, payroll and month-end processes, working as part of a small and collaborative team. The role suits someone who is organised, accurate and comfortable working independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Purchase ledger processing, including invoice entry, supplier reconciliations and payment runs
  • Sales ledger management, including raising invoices, allocating receipts and overseeing accounts receivable
  • Monthly UK payroll processing for approximately 30 employees
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Posting journals and supporting the month-end close process
  • Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations
  • Updating and managing the fixed asset register
  • Ensuring accurate financial record-keeping and adherence to internal controls
  • Providing general support to the Finance Manager and contributing to process improvements
  • Applying double-entry bookkeeping knowledge where required

Candidate Profile

  • Highly organised, methodical and able to manage workload independently
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience in bookkeeping, payroll and transactional finance
  • Background within an SME or manufacturing environment is beneficial
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency with accounting software and Excel
  • Sage experience advantageous
