Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site Bookkeeper role based in Sheffield, focused on VAT, payroll, and limited company accounts. The Bookkeeper will maintain accurate financial records, process day-to-day bookkeeping transactions, and prepare journal entries for sales, purchases, payroll, and bank movements. Responsibilities include supporting VAT return preparation, reconciling accounts and bank statements, and assisting with the preparation of limited company accounts and management reports. The role will also involve using accounting software to update ledgers, ensure data integrity, and support the finance team with routine queries and documentation. The successful candidate will work closely with operational staff to ensure timely, compliant financial processing aligned with EcoSheffield’s renewable energy projects.

Qualifications

- Strong bookkeeping skills, including maintaining ledgers, processing day-to-day transactions, and preparing journal entries (Accounting, Bookkeeping, Journal Entries (Accounting)).
- Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements and support limited company accounts and reporting (Financial Statements, Finance).
- Proficiency with accounting software and related digital tools used for VAT, payroll, and general ledger management (Accounting Software).
- Good understanding of UK VAT regulations, payroll processes, and basic statutory compliance for limited companies.
- Relevant qualification or training in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance (e.g., AAT, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, or equivalent experience).
- Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and ability to manage confidential financial information responsibly.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with both finance and operational teams on-site.
- Experience in SMEs or the renewable energy, construction, or trade services sectors is beneficial but not essential.
