Success Recruit are currently working with a growing and well-established business based in Chelmsford, who are looking to recruit a proactive, resilient and confident Part-Time Business Development Executive to join their team. This is a telephone-based role where you will be responsible for proactively contacting manufacturing businesses across the UK, identifying key contacts and generating qualified opportunities for the Head of Sales.

The Successful Part-time Business Development Executive:

  • Be confident and comfortable making outbound calls, introducing services and obtaining contact details
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and listening skills, with the ability to engage with managers and supervisors and understand their current requirements
  • Have genuine resilience and the ability to remain motivated when faced with rejection or challenging conversations
  • Ideally have previous experience within telephone business development, lead generation, telesales or internal sales, although this is not essential

Purpose Of The Role:

The main objective of this role is to generate new business opportunities through proactive telephone-based activity. You will spend most of your day contacting specific businesses across the UK, identifying the appropriate decision-makers, having initial conversations to understand their current arrangements and requirements, and providing qualified information to the Head of Sales for further development.

This is not a hard-sell or closing role. The focus is on building initial relationships, asking the right questions, identifying potential opportunities and ensuring the Head of Sales has all the relevant information required to progress the conversation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Making approximately 20–30 outbound calls each day to businesses across the UK
  • Working consistently through a targeted call list and maintaining daily call volumes
  • Researching target businesses and building accurate records within the CRM before making contact
  • Identifying the appropriate contacts and decision-makers within each business
  • Obtaining accurate contact information including full names, job titles and direct contact details
  • Holding short introductory conversations to understand how businesses currently operate and identify any challenges or requirements
  • Asking relevant questions and listening carefully to understand the contact’s specific situation
  • Accurately recording all conversations, information and outcomes within the CRM
  • Providing the Head of Sales with a clear and complete handover of qualified opportunities
  • Drafting follow-up correspondence
  • Arranging and managing booked meetings, including confirmations, invitations and reminder calls

This position would suit someone who genuinely enjoys being on the telephone and is motivated by the opportunity to create new business conversations working in a sales team. You will need to be able to handle rejection professionally, remain positive and move confidently on to the next call.

Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 3.00pm – office-based position ideally & hours can be slightly flexible for the right person either side of the above.

Salary: £45-50k pro rata equating to £30,900 to £34,400
