Robert Half is delighted to be exclusively partnering with Summer Fields School once again, this time to recruit a permanent part-time Finance Assistant into a newly created role within their Bursary team.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Accounts Payable professional to join a well-regarded, close-knit school finance function, with variety across purchase ledger, fees ledger, and wider finance support.

The Details

  • Salary: £30,000 - £33,000 FTE
  • Part-time: 20-24 hours per week (flexibly structured to suit the successful candidate's preference)
  • Hybrid working: based at the school's offices in Summertown, Oxford

The Role

This is a key role responsible for supporting the Senior Finance Officer with all aspects of Finance, including Accounts Payable and Receivable, delivering efficient partnering and support to the school community. Key deliverables include:

Purchase Ledger: ensuring the smooth running of the Purchase Ledger including:

  • Monitoring the AP
  • Ensuring all incoming invoices are correctly coded in the finance
  • Ensuring all invoices are appropriately
  • Reviewing monthly supplier statements and obtaining the required information to ensure accurate records and timely payments to suppliers.
  • Generating proposed supplier payments and obtaining appropriate
  • Distributing remittances and correspondence relating to the Purchase
  • Placing ad hoc orders as requested once authorisation has been
  • Budget reporting on expenditure
  • Liaising with suppliers and internal colleagues, including chasing and following up where required.

Processing daily

Fees Ledger - assisting with:

  • Collating and preparing information relevant to the billing of school
  • Inputting data onto the Fees Ledger from source

Other duties may include amongst others:

  • Distributing petty cash within school and working with the Senior Finance Officer to ensure adequate cash supplies are available.
  • Assisting with term-end procedures including journals and
  • Assisting with the collation of information relevant to:
    • The preparation of annual
    • The termly management accounts and annual
    • Backup information regarding

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Experience of working within the Education or Not-For-Profit sectors
  • Collaborative team player - working effectively within a small Bursary team
  • Significant experience in Accounts Payable
  • Pro-active and self-motivated, with the ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, with excellent accuracy and a methodical
  • Able to manage a busy and varied workload, prioritising effectively and working to deadlines
  • Confident in proactively following up outstanding actions and liaising with colleagues and suppliers to resolve queries
