Group Financial Controller

Change Accountancy and Finance are partnering with one of the UK’s leading and fast-growing consultancy businesses as they look to appoint a Group Financial Controller to their team. This role is on a part-time basis, 3 days per week, with one of these being in their central Edinburgh office.

A unique role, with a disruptor in the market, that will play a key part across all areas of the business as they continue to grow and execute on an exciting strategy, taking a role as part of the management structure and adding value through the commercial performance of the business.

The role will be across all areas of finance, taking responsibility for budgeting and forecasting in addition to month-end close and reporting and daily activities within the team. Developing links and relationships with the business to understand its rhythm and drivers is key to aid in board-level decision making and conversations, as well as taking a lead on enhancing management information and wider controls and processes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
