We are looking for a practical & reliable solution-focused maintenance person to join our veterinary practice and help keep our multiple sites safe, well maintained and looking their best.

Working across our clinics, you will be responsible for carrying out a wide variety of general maintenance, repairs and improvement work. No two days are likely to be the same – from fixing a door or putting up shelving, to carrying out minor decorating jobs, assembling furniture and helping us keep our buildings and grounds in great condition. Our teams are busy caring for animals and their owners, so having someone who can respond quickly to maintenance issues and take pride in creating safe, clean and well-maintained working environments makes a real difference.

Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To

Carrying out general repairs and maintenance across our veterinary sites
Dealing with minor plumbing, carpentry and electrical tasks within your level of competence
Painting, decorating and carrying out general building maintenance
Putting up shelves, noticeboards, signage, fixtures and fittings
Assembling furniture and equipment
Repairing doors, handles, locks, cupboards and other fixtures
Carrying out basic grounds and external maintenance
Identifying maintenance issues and taking appropriate action
Helping prepare rooms and areas for refurbishment or changes
Moving and assembling equipment and furniture where appropriate
Keeping maintenance areas, tools and equipment safe and organized
Liaising with contractors when specialist work is required
Carrying out regular checks around our sites and reporting any issues
Responding to maintenance requests from members of the veterinary teams
Ensuring work is carried out safely and with minimal disruption to clinical activities
Supporting general site improvements and projects as required

We Are Looking For Someone Who Is

Practical and hands-on, with a natural ability to fix things
Experienced in general maintenance, property maintenance, handyman work or a similar role
Confident tackling a variety of jobs and finding practical solutions
Able to work independently and manage their own workload
Reliable, organised and responsive
Someone who takes pride in their work and pays attention to detail
Comfortable working across different locations
Friendly and approachable, with good communication skills
Able to work respectfully around animals, clients and veterinary staff
Safety-conscious and aware of when a job needs to be referred to a suitably qualified contractor

You don’t need to be an expert in everything – we’re looking for someone with good practical skills, common sense and a willingness to turn their hand to different jobs.

If you have previous experience in a facilities, maintenance, property, building or similar practical role with good general DIY and maintenance skills this could be the role for you. You must be a confident problem-solver able to work safely and independently and prioritise and organise your varied workload.

Due the multi-site nature of this role you must have a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
