Position: Part Time Registered General Nurse - Outpatients
Description
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Outpatients and Pre-Assessment team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work across a varied surgical service, providing high-quality nursing care to patients attending outpatient clinics and preparing for surgery. The role offers a diverse workload, including nurse-led pre-assessment, wound management, dressing clinics, and supporting minor surgical procedures.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and patient experience.
Main Duties of the Job
As a Registered Nurse within our Outpatients and Pre-Assessment Department, you will:
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centred nursing care across a range of surgical specialties.
- Independently manage nurse-led pre-assessment and dressing clinics.
- Undertake comprehensive pre-operative assessments, identifying and escalating clinical risks appropriately.
- Provide specialist wound care, including the management of complex wounds.
- Assist clinicians during minor and intermediate surgical procedures following appropriate training.
- Support patients through their surgical journey, providing clear information, reassurance, and compassionate care.
- Order and review diagnostic tests and investigations in accordance with local protocols.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
- Participate in clinical governance, incident reporting, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Work flexibly as part of the multidisciplinary team to meet service demands while maintaining patient safety.
- Support the learning and development of student nurses and junior colleagues where appropriate.
- Practice in accordance with the NMC Code and HMT policies and procedures.

About You
You will be a caring and enthusiastic Registered Nurse who enjoys working in a busy outpatient environment and is committed to delivering excellent patient care.
Essential Criteria
- Registered Adult Nurse (Part 1 NMC Register).
- Minimum of one year's post-registration experience.
- Surgical nursing experience.
- Experience caring for patients across a range of surgical specialties.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively to changing clinical demands.
- Commitment to providing safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care.
Desirable criteria
- Experience working in a Pre-Assessment service.
- Experience managing wound and dressing clinics.
- Experience assisting with minor surgical procedures.
- Knowledge of ANTT and day surgery pathways.
