Stoneleigh Arms Arts Space is an artist-led, grassroots not-for-profit organisation that creates accessible opportunities for people to engage with the arts in Leamington Spa and beyond. The team develops inclusive, community-rooted programmes including exhibitions, creative workshops, mentoring, and public events, with a strong focus on collaboration and reducing barriers to participation. Based in Stoneleigh Arms, a new purpose-built arts hub in the town’s Creative Quarter, the space offers affordable artist studios, gallery and event space, and public programmes. Activities and opportunities are shaped with and for the local community, aiming to make creativity open to everyone.
Role Description
The Part-Time Retail and Exhibitions Assistant will support the daily operations of the arts hub, ensuring a welcoming, accessible environment for visitors and artists. This on-site role, located in Leamington Spa, includes staffing the retail and gallery areas, answering visitor queries, processing sales, and providing information about current exhibitions and events. The position involves assisting with exhibition installation and de-installation, setting up events and workshops, and helping maintain clean, organised public spaces. The Assistant will also support administrative tasks, such as tracking stock, updating signage, and coordinating with artists and partners as needed. This is a part-time role, with some evening work aligned to exhibitions and public events.

Qualifications
- Strong Communication skills, including clear, friendly, and inclusive interaction with visitors, artists, and colleagues.
- Customer Service experience, with the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere, handle sales transactions, and respond to enquiries professionally.
- Event Planning skills, such as assisting with the setup and smooth running of exhibitions, workshops, and public events.
- Knowledge or interest in Art and Art History, with the ability to talk confidently about exhibitions and support artist-led activities.
- Organisational skills and attention to detail, especially in managing displays, stock, and exhibition materials.
- Ability to work on-site in Royal Leamington Spa, including some evenings and weekends, and to collaborate effectively in a small team.
- Previous experience in retail, galleries, museums, or community arts settings is beneficial but not essential.
- Commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and community engagement, aligned with the values of a grassroots arts organisation.
