About The Role

Greenbelt Group is seeking an engaging Part-Time Warden to support our team at the Wisley Acres Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) and the Thames Basin Heath Special Protection Area (SPA). You will play a vital role in protecting sensitive habitats by promoting responsible recreation, leading community engagement initiatives, and encouraging visitors to make the most of the local SANG.

Key Responsibilities

  • Public Engagement: Patrol key sites during peak periods to promote responsible access, including dog-on-lead walking during bird nesting seasons.
  • Education & Community: Lead guided walks, community events, and maintain online and physical educational materials.
  • Volunteer Leadership: Establish and coordinate local volunteer groups to assist with site management and improvement projects.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Keep precise access incident logs, assist with ecological surveys, and monitor site usage to support adaptive management plans.
  • Partnership Working: Working in Partnership with Three Leys Community Trust (TLC Trust), Greenbelt aligns with the TLC Trust’s mission to own, manage, and protect community assets while providing residents with transparent, high-quality service and a direct voice in their future and further collaborating closely with the Senior Ranger, local councils, Natural England, and wildlife trusts.

What We Are Looking For

  • Practical experience in countryside management, wardening, or visitor engagement on protected sites.
  • Excellent communication skills with an approachable, authoritative manner for public-facing roles.
  • Strong understanding of protected site designations (SPA/SSSI) and access management.
  • Proficiency in digital media for community outreach and event promotion.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including weekends and peak visitor times.
