The role
This is an exciting opportunity to help develop and strengthen BFT's SEND provision, particularly for young people with EHCPs and additional learning needs. You will work closely with our staff, young people, families, schools, and local authorities to ensure learners receive the right support to succeed.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee SEND provision across BFT.
- Support the assessment and identification of learners' additional needs.
- Review and contribute to EHCPs and annual reviews.
- Liaise with parents, schools, colleges, and local authorities.
- Advise staff on appropriate SEND strategies and reasonable adjustments.
- Help develop individual support plans.
- Support referrals and transition into BFT.
- Strengthen BFT's relationships with local authority SEND teams.
- Help develop BFT's post-16 SEND and EHCP offer.
- Ensure appropriate records and evidence are maintained.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and quality of BFT's provision.

We are looking for someone who
- Has significant experience working with SEND learners.
- Has experience as a SENDCO, SENCO, SEND Lead or similar.
- Understands the EHCP process and annual reviews.
- Can work effectively with local authorities and other professionals.
- Has experience supporting young people with complex or additional needs.
- Understands vocational and/or alternative education.
- Is passionate about helping young people who have struggled in mainstream education.
- Is practical, approachable, and able to build strong relationships.
