Role Description

The Part-Time Service Chemist will provide on-site technical support and analysis for customer water treatment systems in South Yorkshire. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting results
  • Recommending adjustments to treatment processes to ensure efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance
  • Preparing concise service reports
  • Maintaining accurate records of site visits and test data
  • Communicating findings clearly to customers and internal teams

The Service Chemist will collaborate with operations staff to:

  • Troubleshoot issues
  • Support optimization projects
  • Promote best practices in water process management

This is a part-time, on-site role that may require flexible working hours to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in chemistry or a related scientific discipline, supported by a relevant degree, diploma, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience with water quality testing, laboratory methods, and safe handling of chemicals in industrial or commercial environments
  • Ability to interpret analytical data, identify trends or issues, and make clear, actionable recommendations to improve water treatment performance
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues, including the ability to explain technical concepts in accessible language
  • Organizational and time-management skills to plan site visits, document findings, and manage multiple customer accounts on a part-time schedule
  • Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards, with an interest in sustainable and low-carbon water solutions
  • Comfort working independently on customer sites and collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary service and engineering team
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel, prior field service experience is an advantage
