Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Part Time Clerical Officer based at Ayrshire Maternity Unit - University Hospital Crosshouse.


Hours And Shift Pattern

Post 1: 18 hours 2 week rotation

  • Week 1
    • Monday & Tuesday 9am 5pm (30 min break)
    • Wednesday 9am 12 noon
  • Week 2
    • Wednesday 9am 12 noon
    • Thursday & Friday 9am 5pm (30 min break)

Post 2: 14.4 hours 2 week rotation

  • Week 1
    • Monday 9am 5pm (30 min break)
    • Tuesday 8am 4.24pm
  • Week 2
    • Thursday 9am 5pm (30 min break)
    • Friday 8am 4.24pm

These posts are offered on a fixed term basis for 12 months.


What You Will Do

You will work within a designated ward area providing a clerical and reception service, receiving patient and members of the public as they arrive at hospital. Duties include the maintenance and filing of patient confidential records, recording patient related data, admissions and out-patient appointments using the computerised patient administration system, answering telephones and relaying messages.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job

To provide a reception and clerical service to ward areas within the Ayrshire Maternity Unit. To maintain accurate and up to date patient caserecords by sorting and filing of investigation reports and clinical data thereby supporting the continuum of patient care. To act as focal point for enquiries from patients, relatives, carers, members of the public and staff, providing information and relaying messages.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Knowledge acquired through relevant experience, or qualifications through SVQ Level 2 in Administration/Information Technology or equivalent experience.
  • ECDL or equivalent.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
