Private Client Partner – Head of Private Client, Birmingham.

As our presence in the midlands continues to grow, we are looking for a Private Client Partner to lead our Birmingham Private Client team and drive the next phase of its development.

Joining one of the UK’s largest Private Client teams, you’ll have the platform, support and national reach to grow an already successful practice whilst shaping its strategic direction in the West Midlands. Working alongside 120 private client specialists nationwide, you’ll play a key leadership role in the continued growth of the Birmingham team, helping to develop talent, strengthen our market presence and contribute to the wider success of the national practice.

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of an important regional team whilst benefiting from the strength, reputation and resources of a leading national Private Client offering.

The Team

Our Private Client team is one of the largest and most highly respected in the country, with around 120 specialists working across the HCR network. Consistently recognised by both Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500, our team includes numerous lawyers ranked among the leading practitioners in their field.

We are proud of our collaborative approach and we work seamlessly with colleagues across the wider business to provide strategic, holistic advice, tailored to each client’s needs.

The Role

As Head of Private Client in Birmingham, you will be responsible for leading and developing the local team while contributing to the broader direction of our national practice.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing leadership, strategic direction and support to the Birmingham Private Client team.
  • Driving the continued growth of the practice, identifying opportunities to expand our client base, market presence and regional profile.
  • Developing and mentoring team members, fostering a collaborative, high performing and supportive culture.
  • Working with colleagues across the national Private Client team to contribute to the wider strategy and success of the practice.
  • Advising clients across the full spectrum of private client matters, including wills, trusts, estate planning, succession planning, probate and LPA’s.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with HNW and UHNW individuals, families, business owners and landed estates, many with complex UK and international interests.
  • Raising your profile, that of HCR, through business development, networking and thought leadership activity across the region.

About You

We are looking for an experienced and accomplished Private Client lawyer who combines technical excellence with proven leadership ability, commercial acumen and a passion for client service.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
