Help Shape One of the Most Ambitious Construction Projects in the UK

Some projects stand out because of their scale.

Others because of their complexity.

Very occasionally, an opportunity comes along that offers both.

Ridge is supporting the delivery of a landmark destination project in Bedford that will attract global attention for years to come. As construction activity ramps up across multiple work fronts, contractors, specialist suppliers and stakeholder groups, we are looking for an experienced Director Project Superintendent (on-site PM) to act as the client's representative on site and help drive successful delivery.

This is not a traditional consultancy-based Project Manager role.

It is a hands-on construction leadership position, embedded within a major live construction programme, overseeing contractor performance, coordinating interfaces, managing logistics and ensuring quality, safety and programme objectives are achieved.

For the right individual, this is a chance to be part of a project unlike anything else currently being delivered in the UK. A project that will reshape the region, create lasting economic impact and provide a career-defining experience over the next six years and beyond.

If you thrive in complex construction environments and enjoy being at the centre of project delivery, this is an opportunity worth exploring.

The Role

Responsibilities

As a Partner, Construction Lead known as the Director Project Superintendent for the project, you will act as the client's on-site representative throughout construction, handover and close-out phases, providing day-to-day leadership across contractor operations and site coordination activities. Based on the role scope for the Director Project Superintendent, responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining a full-time presence on site, representing the client in all operational construction matters.
  • Monitoring contractor performance against programme commitments and challenging issues before they affect delivery.
  • Overseeing site logistics, access arrangements, laydown areas and interface management across multiple workstreams.
  • Reviewing short-term programmes and look-ahead schedules, identifying risks and supporting mitigation strategies.
  • Undertaking quality observations on site, identifying concerns early and driving resolution with contractors.
  • Supporting safe delivery by promoting best practice standards and monitoring compliance with site protocols.
  • Managing relationships across contractors, consultants, specialist vendors and wider project stakeholders.
  • Producing clear progress reporting covering programme, quality, resources, safety and emerging project risks.
  • Supporting handover, commissioning, snagging, defect management and phased completion activities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You'll Be Working On

This role sits within a major programme team responsible for delivering one of the UK's most significant new visitor attractions.

The scale of construction activity, stakeholder engagement and operational coordination involved creates a working environment more commonly found on major infrastructure, aviation or large-scale mixed-use developments.

You will work closely with contractors, specialist suppliers, consultants and client teams across multiple construction zones, helping ensure programme commitments are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

The project will require the coordination of complex site logistics, overlapping packages of work, specialist installations and extensive stakeholder engagement.

For construction professionals who enjoy solving challenges, managing interfaces and influencing successful delivery, few projects offer comparable exposure.

About You

You are likely to come from a construction project management, site management or client-side delivery background and understand what successful project execution looks like in practice.

We Would Expect You To Have

  • Significant experience delivering major construction projects during site delivery phases.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, logistics and programme management.
  • Experience reviewing contractor performance and monitoring progress against planned works.
  • Confidence managing relationships across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Good working knowledge of quality management processes and site inspection practices.
  • Commercial and contractual awareness with the ability to identify and escalate issues appropriately.
  • The ability to anticipate problems early and coordinate practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the credibility to operate effectively within large project teams.
  • Experience within complex, multi-contractor environments such as major commercial developments, infrastructure, transport, leisure, healthcare, education or large-scale mixed-use projects would be particularly valuable.
