Partner Development & Performance Lead (Fixed-Term Contract)

This is a newly created role with direct access to the Chief People Officer and the opportunity to shape an important area of the firm's people strategy. As CMS continues to strengthen its approach to partner performance, leadership development, succession planning and the wider partner lifecycle, you will help translate strategic priorities into practical and sustainable solutions.

Working closely with senior leaders across the firm, you will develop frameworks, programmes and insights that support partners at every stage of their career. From performance and leadership development through to succession planning and future leadership pipelines, your work will influence both individual success and the long-term strength of the partnership.

This role will suit someone who combines strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, enjoys building new approaches and can establish credibility with senior stakeholders across a complex and professional environment.

What you'll do

Partner Performance

  • Lead the continued development of the firm's approach to partner performance.
  • Design and embed frameworks that support meaningful performance conversations, clear expectations and consistency across practice groups.
  • Provide insight and analysis on partner contribution, performance trends and capacity.
  • Work with Practice Group Leaders and Executive Team stakeholders to support effective performance management.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen partner effectiveness, engagement and commercial impact.

Leadership Development

  • Develop and deliver the firm's leadership development approach for partners and senior leaders.
  • Work with Learning & Development colleagues to design programmes focused on people leadership, client relationships, commercial effectiveness and firm leadership.
  • Build development pathways for future Practice Group Leaders and other key leadership positions.
  • Support coaching, mentoring and peer learning opportunities across the partnership.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
