Partner / Head of Employment

Location: Cardiff, Swansea or Bath/Cirencester (flexible/hybrid)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Employment lawyer to join Redkite as our Partner / Head of Employment.

This is a senior fee-earning and leadership role, offering the opportunity to manage a high-quality employment law caseload while leading and developing our Employment team and contributing to the continued growth and commercial success of the practice.

We are looking for an established Employment Solicitor who combines excellent technical expertise and client service with strong commercial awareness and the ability to lead, develop and inspire others.

Position Overview

As Head of Employment, you will remain an active senior fee earner within the team, managing your own varied caseload and advising employers, owner-managed businesses, commercial organisations and individuals on complex contentious and non-contentious employment matters.

Alongside your fee-earning responsibilities, you will provide leadership and strategic direction to the Employment team, supporting colleagues in their development, driving performance and maintaining high standards of technical quality and client service.

You will also play a key role in developing existing client relationships, generating new opportunities and continuing to evolve and grow Redkite's Employment offering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage your own high-quality caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Provide expert, commercially focused employment law advice to employers, businesses and individuals.
  • Advise on matters including discrimination, dismissal, restructuring, redundancy, TUPE, senior exits and settlement agreements.
  • Represent clients in Employment Tribunal proceedings and other employment-related disputes.
  • Draft and advise on employment contracts, policies, agreements and associated documentation.
  • Lead, manage and develop the Employment team, including supervision, coaching, mentoring and performance management.
  • Provide technical supervision and guidance on complex matters where required.
  • Develop and deliver the department's strategy, budgets and performance objectives.
  • Monitor and drive the commercial and financial performance of the Employment practice.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, including senior management and Board-level stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for client growth, cross-referral and new business development.
  • Take an active role in networking, profile raising and developing Redkite's presence within the Employment Law market.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm and wider Commercial Division to identify opportunities and support wider strategic objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the team, identifying opportunities to improve performance, service delivery and the commercial offering.
  • Maintain consistently high standards of client care aligned with Redkite's Client Value Proposition.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
