As a HR Change Consultant (Partnering and Change Consultant), you’ll support a

variety of People related work packages providing consultative oversight and guidance to the business. You will support several People Change activities helping us integrate and grow through careful data and complex process management. You’ll also get involved in investigating and responding to escalated AskHR queries linked to the NBS policy suite and employee terms and conditions. You will gather and use people data producing insights to support business decision-making.

This is a hugely varied role for a true HR generalist with strong data skills and excellent attention to detail. This is a role within the People Partnering and Change Delivery Team, working alongside other Consultants, Partners, and Advisers. You’ll also work with our recognised Unions, to share information and nurture our positive relationship.

This role sits within the People Function, which is responsible for enabling our Society blueprint through key People-focused enablers, including a focus on culture and capability, and managing how we transform our organisation, doing the right thing in the right way with our ethic of care.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.

The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 28 and 35 hours.

This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract opportunity.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, Glasgow or Northampton offices. If you’re based at our Glasgow office, this will apply from 1 April 2027 and ahead of that there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here [https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnationwide-jobs.co.uk%2Flife-at-nationwide%2Frewarding-you&data=05%7C02%7CSamantha.Graham%40nationwide-jobs.co.uk%7Cc3d3225d77e54ab5a92008dedc2cceff%7C18ed93f5e4704996b0ef9554af985d50%7C0%7C0%7C639190282163461695%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=PC5Y9xpYWimDrh3FYkvbMMF87I34nF17ytwWljcifjI%3D&reserved=0].

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

RESPONSIBILITIES

What you’ll be doing

You will work as part of a squad alongside our People Partners and Senior People Partners to deliver transformational People Change. We always manage Change with a strong ethic of care regardless of its size and complexity.

You’ll be producing insight by gathering data and producing insights on the findings (e.g. absence, planned leave, working patterns, I&D, spans and layers) to inform business decisions and workforce planning.

Additionally, you will support consultation activity such as tracking people data, consultation forms and managing change queries in line with business needs so we can service our customers effectively. In doing this you’ll be able to work with business leaders on job evaluations and role profile changes within our regulated environment.

Furthermore, you will investigate and respond to escalated queries from Ask HR/other People Function teams or our Unions, including queries linked to our NBS policies and employee contracts. These are likely to be complex queries that can require challenging and sensitive conversations with managers and employees, as well as thorough research and investigation.

About you

As a minimum requirement, you'll have/be:

  • Strong planning and organisational skills with significant experience of managing and prioritising workload to tight deadlines. You will be accustomed to juggling a number of demands and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable sourcing, managing and maintaining sensitive data through Excel and PeopleCloud
  • Experience supporting and ideally advising on People Change activity with experience in other People Function or Change Delivery teams
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to partner key stakeholders. You should be curious and able to build strong relationships and work collaboratively. This communication is often conducted in verbal format
  • The ability to logically evaluate and apply judgement to situations, overcome challenges and provide solutions at pace. You will be able to think laterally about how to solve problems utilising your HR knowledge

  • Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes
