Role Purpose:

The Partnerships and Business Development Manager will lead strategic partner relationships, deliver outstanding partnership activations and events, drive the growth of the LMA's 1919 Club, support new business development and contribute to the ongoing growth and success of the LMA's commercial strategy.

Role Requirements:

Partnership Management & Delivery

  • To lead on selected LMA commercial relationships, including direct account management.
  • To support the Commercial Director with selected renewals, contracts and invoicing.
  • To track, monitor and report on the performance of each selected partner account.
  • To identify and explore new commercial opportunities aligned to the LMA's strategic objectives.
  • To develop and strengthen relationships across partner organisations, identifying opportunities to enhance partnerships, increase engagement and support long-term retention and growth.
  • To support the Commercial Director in the preparation of partner invoices, maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with commercial reporting.

Partnerships Delivery

  • To co-ordinate the delivery of partnership rights and bespoke activations, ensuring contractual obligations are delivered to the highest standard, including:
    • Institute corporate events
    • Football tournaments
    • Corporate hospitality
    • Golf events
    • Private dinners
    • LMA Member and Ambassador appearances
    • Coaching days
    • Other bespoke partnership activations
  • To plan and manage the delivery of partnership activations, ensuring each activity is aligned to partner objectives and delivers maximum value.
  • To work collaboratively with the Events Manager and wider LMA team to ensure the successful planning and delivery of partnership events and experiences.
  • To co-ordinate all operational aspects of partnership delivery, including guest management, talent liaison, suppliers, production, communications and event logistics where required.
  • To represent the LMA at partner events and activations, ensuring an exceptional experience for partners, Members, ambassadors and guests.
  • To complete all partnership administration, including event documentation, partner reporting, evaluations and internal debriefs, ensuring accurate records are maintained.

Business Development

  • To support the Commercial Director in achieving annual commercial revenue targets through proactive business development activity.
  • To identify, research and develop new commercial partnership opportunities aligned to the LMA's strategic objectives.
  • To generate, manage and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective partners across agreed target sectors.
  • To prepare high-quality proposals, presentations and commercial pitches that effectively communicate the LMA's value proposition.
  • To support the Commercial Director with commercial negotiations, contract preparation and the successful conversion of new business opportunities.
  • To develop and maintain strong relationships with senior decision-makers, maximise opportunities and explore new revenue opportunities.

1919 Club

  • To lead the operational delivery and ongoing development of the LMA 1919 Club, ensuring an exceptional experience for all Members.
  • To develop and maintain strong relationships with 1919 Club Members, delivering outstanding levels of service and engagement.
  • To plan and co-ordinate the annual programme of member benefits, networking events and exclusive experiences.
  • To identify and implement new initiatives that enhance member engagement, satisfaction and long-term retention.
  • To support the promotion, acquisition, renewal and growth of 1919 Club Memberships, contributing to annual commercial targets.
  • To monitor Membership performance, evaluate member feedback and provide recommendations to support the continued growth and commercial success of the 1919 Club.

LMA Team

  • To develop strong working relationships with the Commercial and wider LMA Team.
  • To contribute to the team environment and open communication culture.
  • To meet internal deadlines.
  • To demonstrate creativity and take risks.
  • To develop strong working relationships with LMA Members and ambassadors.

Skills Required:

  • Partnership management and delivery experience (minimum 3 years experience working within the Sport industry).
  • Business development experience (desirable).
  • Significant organisational skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to identify and convert commercial opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships internally and externally.
  • Confident presentation and proposal writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently, managing multiple projects from inception to completion and prioritising workloads.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.
