About the role

The Parts Specialist (Bus Industry) is responsible for supporting bus service operations by identifying, sourcing, ordering, and managing spare parts for buses and related systems. The role ensures timely parts availability to maximize vehicle uptime, minimize downtime, and support maintenance and warranty activities.

Reporting to: Workshop Manager

Working location: BYD’s Reading site, RG2 0TG

Key Responsibilities

Parts Identification & Supply

  • Accurately identify bus spare parts using EPC systems, technical manuals, VIN/chassis information, and engineering drawings.
  • Process parts requests from workshop technicians and fleet customers.
  • Ensure timely parts availability for maintenance and repairs.

Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimal stock availability.
  • Conduct stock counts and inventory audits.
  • Manage obsolete, slow-moving, and critical inventory items.

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Raise purchase orders and track supplier deliveries.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, and availability.

Customer & Workshop Support

  • Provide technical parts support to service teams and customers.
  • Prepare quotations and process sales orders.

Warranty & Quality Support

  • Support warranty claims and coordinate return-to-vendor processes.

Your profile

Essential

  • Diploma or degree in Automotive, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related discipline.
  • 2+ years experience in automotive, commercial vehicle, truck, or bus parts operations.
  • Knowledge of bus systems including powertrain, braking, suspension, HVAC, electrical, and body components.
