Optime Group is recruiting Assisted Passenger Drivers (D1) to support a major airport assistance operation at Stansted Airport.

This is a rewarding customer-facing role where you'll safely transport passengers requiring additional assistance between the terminal and aircraft using specialist airside vehicles. You'll also provide hands-on support throughout the passenger journey, ensuring every individual receives a safe, comfortable and professional experience.

Please note that this is a physically demanding role and not solely a driving position. Passenger assistance and manual handling form a key part of the job.

What's on offer

  • Location: Stansted Airport
  • Pay: £16.48 per hour, increasing to £17.13 per hour from 1st November 2026
  • Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off
  • Hours: 40 hours per week (Start and Finish Times Will Vary from 06:00 - 03:00
  • **Staff parking provided
  • Weekly pay
  • Temp to Perm (performance based)

What you'll be doing

  • Driving specialist airport assistance vehicles safely on the airfield.
  • Transporting passengers with reduced mobility between the terminal and aircraft.
  • Assisting passengers safely on and off aircraft using approved manual handling techniques and specialist equipment.
  • Supporting passengers through the terminal, including check-in, security, boarding and arrivals when required.
  • Completing daily vehicle safety inspections and reporting any defects.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and presentable vehicle.
  • Updating the Operations Team using handheld devices and communication systems.
  • Working in accordance with all Stansted Airport airside driving regulations, health and safety procedures and company policies.
  • Delivering outstanding customer service whilst promoting a safe and secure airport environment.

What we're looking for

  • A full UK Driving Licence with D1 License.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • A safety-focused and professional approach.
  • Manual handling or passenger assistance experience is advantageous.
  • Previous experience driving larger vehicles or working within an airport environment is desirable.
  • The ability to provide a full 5-year checkable employment and/or education history to obtain an Airside Pass.
  • A willingness to undergo pre-employment Criminal Record, Security Clearance and Drugs & Alcohol testing.

Shifts

The airport operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and successful candidates will work a rolling 4 on, 4 off rota.

PLEASE NOTE: As this position is within the aviation industry, successful applicants must be able to provide a full 5-year checkable history in order to obtain an Airside Pass.
