Passive Fire Protection Operative / Fire Stopper Helston
Location: Helston, Cornwall
Pay Rate: £22.50 - £26.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Job Type: Ongoing Contract
Start Date: ASAP
Harbron Recruit are currently seeking an experienced Passive Fire Protection Operative / Fire Stopper to join an ongoing project in Helston, Cornwall.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Passive Fire Protection Operative, Fire Stopper or Passive Fire Protection Installer to secure ongoing work with competitive rates of pay.
The Role
As a Passive Fire Protection Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of passive fire protection and fire stopping works across the site. The successful Fire Stopper will be expected to complete all work safely, accurately and in accordance with the required specifications.
Duties of the Passive Fire Protection Operative will include:
- Installing passive fire protection and fire stopping systems
- Fire stopping around service penetrations, pipes, and cables
- Installing fire-rated batt and mastic systems
- Applying fire-rated sealants and compounds
- Installing fire collars, sleeves, and wraps
- Carrying out remedial and upgrade fire stopping works
- Working from drawings, specifications, and site instructions
- Ensuring passive fire protection installations meet required fire safety and quality standards
- Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment
- Completing photographic records and relevant site documentation

Requirements
The successful Fire Stopper / Passive Fire Protection Operative will ideally have:
- NVQ Level 2 in Passive Fire Protection
- Blue CSCS Skilled Worker Card relevant to Passive Fire Protection essential
- Proven experience as a Fire Stopper, Passive Fire Protection Operative, or Passive Fire Protection Installer
- Good knowledge of passive fire protection systems and installation methods
- Asbestos Awareness
- Full PPE
- Own relevant hand tools
- Good understanding of construction site health and safety requirements
- Two recent references
- Willingness to complete the required BPSS and DBS checks
A Blue CSCS Skilled Worker Card will be required for this Passive Fire Protection role.
Desirable Qualifications
The following qualifications and experience would be advantageous for the Passive Fire Protection Installer position:
- FIRAS or BM TRADA experience/accreditation
- UKATA Asbestos Awareness
- PASMA
- IPAF
- Experience working with recognized fire stopping products and systems
- Experience working from technical drawings and fire stopping schedules
- Experience completing photographic records and installation documentation

BPSS & DBS Security Checks
Due to the security requirements of the site, all successful Passive Fire Protection Operatives will be required to complete both a BPSS security check and DBS check.
The security-checking process has a minimum timescale of 3 weeks. Candidates must therefore be willing to commit to completing the full checking process.
There may be scope for a suitable candidate to work on the project while the BPSS and DBS checks are being undertaken, subject to site requirements and approval.
Candidates must be available to start immediately once the required BPSS and DBS checks have been completed.
