Job Description

Purpose

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technician to join the Safety team based at UTAC Millbrook. The successful role holder will be responsible for preparing bucks and rigs for sled tests, recording data, initial approval, and deprep following test completion.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare rigs for Sled tests to customer requirements
  • Mechanical fitting of test fixtures
  • Set up high speed cameras to customer requirements
  • Set up data acquisition systems
  • Collect and download data during tests
  • Setting crash test dummies to customer requirements
  • Liaise with UTAC Engineers
  • Work from procedures
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC staff at all times

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering apprenticeship or experience to match
  • HNC/HND in Engineering (preferred but not compulsory)

Experience

  • Previous Mechanical or electrical technician/engineering experience
  • Experienced in a testing environment
  • Welding and fabricating experience (preferable but not compulsory)
  • Photographic experience (preferable but not compulsory)
  • Data collection experience (preferable but not compulsory)

Skills

  • Sound knowledge of mechanical and / or electrical principles
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • IT literate
  • Knowledge of high speed data and video capture considered an advantage
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Able to support a 6:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00 shift pattern
  • Prepared to work overtime as required
  • Flexibility to travel as and when required
  • Full UK driving license & own transport (UTAC Millbrook is not easily assessable via public transport)
  • SC clearance or ability to achieve this (UK national with residency in the UK for the last 5 years)
  • Willing to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check
