Cover Supervisor - SEND School

Location: Rural Andover, Hampshire

Pay: £125-£130 per day, depending on experience

Contract: Full-time | Long-term | Temp-to-Perm

Start Date: 9 September 2026 onwards

Cover Supervisor - Rural Andover

Luma Education Recruitment is working with a SEND school in the rural Andover area of Hampshire that is seeking a confident, patient and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team from September 2026.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working with children and young people and is confident supporting pupils who may have SEN, SEMH, autism, ADHD, anxiety or behavioural needs.

You will provide classroom cover and learning support, helping pupils remain engaged, maintain positive behaviour and access their learning in a calm and structured environment.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, You Will

  • Supervise pupils during lessons in the absence of the regular teacher
  • Deliver pre-planned learning activities and support pupils with their work
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required
  • Encourage pupils to engage positively with learning
  • Support positive behaviour and maintain clear classroom expectations
  • Help pupils with emotional regulation and managing challenges
  • Build positive and professional relationships with pupils
  • Adapt your approach to meet individual pupil needs
  • Work alongside teaching, pastoral and support staff
  • Maintain a calm, safe and supportive learning environment
  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil engagement and progress

About You

We'd Like To Hear From Candidates Who Have

  • Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals
  • Previous experience within SEN, education, care, youth work or similar settings
  • A genuine interest in supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Confidence managing classroom behaviour and maintaining boundaries
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to remain positive and resilient in challenging situations
  • The flexibility to adapt your approach to different pupils and circumstances
  • A genuine desire to help young people achieve their potential

Relevant qualifications are welcomed, but experience, attitude and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils are equally important.

An Enhanced DBS will be required before commencing the role. Candidates already registered with the DBS Update Service are encouraged to apply.
