Job Description
Join the team at Gilpin Spice, our vibrant, open-kitchen pan-Asian restaurant inspired by flavours from across the Spice Trail. We’re looking for a full-time Pastry Chef de Partie who brings precision, creativity, and confident energy to a fast-paced, theatrical kitchen. You’ll run the pastry section with organisation and flair, prepare desserts rooted in bold, flavour-driven cooking, and support the brigade in delivering the lively, immersive dining experience that defines Gilpin Spice.

We’re seeking a skilled, motivated, and detail-driven Pastry Chef de Partie to join the Gilpin Spice brigade. In this role, you’ll take ownership of the pastry section, preparing vibrant, flavour-forward desserts with accuracy, consistency, and pride. You’ll work closely with senior chefs to maintain high standards, contribute to dessert development, and uphold the organisation and discipline that define the Spice kitchen.
Your Role as Chef De Partie:
- Manages and operates the pastry section to an exceptional standard, ensuring readiness, organisation, and consistency throughout service.
- Prepares, cooks, and presents desserts with precision, delivering Gilpin Spice’s bold, pan-Asian culinary style.
- Works closely with senior chefs to support dessert development, daily prep, and smooth kitchen operations.
- Trains, guides, and supports junior chefs, helping build skill, confidence, and professional growth within the brigade.
- Contributes to a calm, disciplined, and collaborative working environment, even within a lively open-kitchen setting.
- Upholds the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, organisation, and presentation at all times.
- Collaborates with the wider restaurant team to ensure smooth, efficient service and a memorable guest experience.
Qualifications
What You Bring:
- Pastry experience in pan-Asian, Michelin-recommended, or high-end dining environments.
- Section confidence, showing organisation and calm when running a pastry section.
- Technical skill - ability to prepare and cook desserts to consistently high standards.
- Leadership and supportive, positive guidance for junior chefs.
- Impeccable cleanliness, safety, and compliance.
- Curiosity, creativity, and a genuine love of flavour-driven pastry work.
- A desire to grow within a modern, energetic restaurant inspired by the Spice Trail.

Salary: £34,060 per year
Gratuities: £351 per month (average)
Hours: 50 hours per week.
