About The Role
We are seeking dedicated and hardworking Patch Workers to help us maintain our high standards across Crawley’s parks, open spaces and residential areas.
Responsibilities
As a Patch Worker you will lead a team and carry out a wide range of grounds and environmental maintenance tasks, including:
- Grass cutting
- Hedge and shrub work
- Planting
- Litter collection
- Graffiti removal
- Fly-tipping clearance
- General upkeep of public spaces
You will also support seasonal operations such as snow clearance and gritting and assist with community events when required.
Requirements
- Operate a variety of vehicles, tools and mechanical equipment safely and effectively
- Take responsibility for their daily care and basic maintenance
- Strong commitment to customer service, teamwork, and personal professionalism
- Regularly engage with residents, support colleagues and volunteers
- Complete required paperwork
- Maintain a high standard of personal presentation
The successful individuals will demonstrate:

- Professionalism
- Willingness to work outdoors in all conditions
You will work in full compliance with our policies, procedures, and safety requirements, including safeguarding responsibilities, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and risk assessments.
You must be reliable, willing to learn new skills, able to work independently when necessary, and be prepared to work flexibly across our Neighbourhood Services division, with physical capabilities to undertake the duties outlined.

Locations
We are recruiting for two vacant posts, these posts are based out of our depots located around the Crawley borough, we have one vacancy in the following areas:
- West Patch Bewbush Pavillion
- Town Centre Team Metcalf Way Manor Royal
Working Hours
- One West Patch worker role, working hours Monday to Thursday 7am to 3pm, Friday 7am to 2:30pm.
- One Town Centre worker role, working hours Thursday 7am to 3pm, Friday 7am to 2:30pm, Saturday and Sunday 7am to 7pm.
Extra hours may be required during the week, weekends, and Bank Holidays, for which a 14% enhancement will be paid.
Requirements
- A full and current UK manual driving licence will be a requirement of the role.
- Experience in leading ground maintenance teams is essential.
