Patent Litigation Associate - NQ-3 PQE | London
We are working with a leading international law firm looking to add a junior associate to its highly regarded London Patent Litigation practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for an associate who wants to build a long-term career in high-end patent disputes, with exposure spanning life sciences, pharmaceuticals, technology, telecommunications, and engineering.
The Opportunity
The team is an established, top-tier patent litigation practice with a long track record in complex UK and European disputes. It combines this European capability with a significant US patent litigation platform, creating a genuinely transatlantic practice.
For junior associates, this means the opportunity to develop strong grounding in English and European patent litigation while gaining exposure to major international disputes involving parallel proceedings across Europe, the US, and Asia.
The Work
The practice acts for major pharmaceutical, life sciences, technology, and multinational businesses on some of their most significant IP disputes.
Associates can expect exposure to matters including:
- Patent infringement and validity/revocation proceedings
- Pharmaceutical and life sciences disputes, including SPC and biosimilar matters
- Technology, telecommunications, and engineering disputes
- SEP/FRAND litigation
- Trade secrets disputes
- Patents Court and Court of Appeal proceedings
- Unified Patent Court litigation
- Multi-jurisdictional disputes involving European, US, and Asian proceedings

The Team
This is a long-established specialist patents group, rather than a recently assembled team or a firm attempting to build a patent litigation capability from scratch.
The practice has considerable senior depth across life sciences, pharmaceuticals, telecoms, engineering, electronics, software, medical devices, and SEP/FRAND disputes.
Junior associates can therefore expect to work alongside experienced patent litigators while gaining exposure to different sectors and types of patent dispute.
The structure of the group should also provide good partner access and responsibility. Rather than being one junior lawyer within a very large general litigation team, associates have the opportunity to become closely involved in the strategy and progression of complex patent cases.

Candidate Profile
We would be interested in speaking with lawyers at NQ–3 PQE with experience in, or a demonstrable interest in, patent litigation.
Candidates may come from a specialist IP practice or a broader disputes team where they have gained relevant patent or technical litigation experience. A scientific or technical background can be helpful but is not essential.
