We are working with a leading international intellectual property law firm seeking an experienced Patent Paralegal to join its London office. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded patents team supporting a broad international client base across a varied portfolio of European, UK and international patent matters.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting attorneys throughout the patent prosecution process, managing deadlines and ensuring filings are completed accurately across multiple jurisdictions.

The Opportunity

  • Prepare and file patent applications before the European Patent Office (EPO), UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO) and under the PCT system.
  • Support a wide range of prosecution matters including convention and non-convention filings, national/regional phase entries, divisional applications and UK Designs.
  • Manage a busy patent docket, ensuring all deadlines are monitored and met.
  • Prepare portfolio reports, client updates and prosecution documentation.
  • Review incoming and outgoing communications from the EPO, UKIPO and PCT authorities.
  • Assist with portfolio transfers, data audits and prosecution cost estimates.
  • Work closely with attorneys and clients to ensure efficient case management.
  • Support junior team members and assist with training, onboarding and wider firm projects.

The Candidate

  • Previous experience as a Patent Paralegal within private practice or a specialist IP environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of EPO, UKIPO and PCT filing and prosecution procedures.
  • Experience managing complex patent portfolios and critical deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Confident communicating with clients, attorneys and international associates.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
