EXCLUSIVE TO IP SUPPORT
We are working with a boutique IP practice in their search for a Patent Paralegal.
Main Duties
- Audio and copy-typing correspondence, memos, patent specifications and billing/debit notes.
- Producing letters, forms and debit notes from standard templates.
- Photocopying and scanning specifications, prior art documents, opposition evidence, forms and patent publications.
- Drafting and sending client and third-party emails.
- Using online patent filing systems.
- Keeping electronic case files up to date, ensuring correspondence with clients, overseas associates and IP offices is correctly filed.
- Working with fee earners to track due dates and deadlines.
- Updating case management systems and client databases, including contact records.
- Maintaining an accurate and well-organised filing system, both electronic and physical.
- Liaising with clients by phone and email (and occasionally fax), taking and making calls on behalf of fee earners, and passing on information as required.

Additional Responsibilities
- Providing paralegal/secretarial support to other paralegals and fee earners (including trainees and partners) as required.
- Occasional reception cover for overflow calls.
- Managing diaries, booking meeting rooms and arranging travel itineraries.
- Other ad hoc duties as required.
Qualifications / Experience
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word and Outlook essential; Excel and PowerPoint an advantage).
- Good typing speed and accuracy (minimum 45 words per minute).
- Audio-typing experience desirable.
- Excellent written English and grammar.
- Able to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively under deadlines.
- Calm, professional and conscientious approach to work.
- Flexible team player, willing to support colleagues as required.
- High level of initiative and strong organisational skills.
- Previous patent secretarial/paralegal experience desirable (ideally 1 year or more).
- CIPA Introductory Patent Paralegal Course (IPPC) qualification desirable but not essential.
