Pathology Operations Manager (primary Base Harrogate District Hospital)
Integrated Pathology Solutions LLP (IPS) is seeking an experienced and motivated manager to join us as Pathology Operations Manager. The role will provide operational and HR leadership across a range of pathology teams, with a particular focus on Phlebotomy and Point of Care Testing (POCT) services.
This is an exciting opportunity to broaden your experience within a busy, multi-site pathology department of more than 400 staff. IPS is committed to developing its people and promoting personal development at every level. Candidates will need a strong foundation in people management, staff development and team leadership. During this fixed-term post, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to support staff through periods of service transformation, contribute to meaningful consultation processes, and help strengthen team morale and individual development.
Based primarily at Harrogate District Hospital, with the need for some cross-site working and travel, the postholder will work closely with the Pathology General Manager for the Harrogate site, and the Director of Operations, to maintain effective operational support. We are looking for an enthusiastic problem solver and confident communicator who is keen to contribute as part of the Pathology Senior Leadership Team and further develop their strategic leadership experience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
