Pathology IT Subject Matter Expert
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, highly skilled and supportive Pathology IT team at a time of significant digital transformation. As the Pathology IT Subject Matter Expert, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, development, and continuous improvement of critical systems that support patient care and laboratory services across the Trust.
Working closely with clinicians, operational teams, Digital colleagues, and external suppliers, you will have the opportunity to develop specialist expertise in pathology technologies, influence system enhancements, and make a visible and meaningful contribution to the future of digital pathology services. This role offers a unique blend of technical challenge, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety, taking initiative, and delivering real-world impact.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support and management of the Trust's Pathology IT systems, ensuring they remain secure, reliable, and fit for purpose.
- Key responsibilities include system administration, maintenance, testing, upgrades, troubleshooting, and user support, alongside monitoring system performance, data quality, and business continuity arrangements.
- Work closely with suppliers to manage incidents, updates, and service improvements, supporting training and documentation, and acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
- Contribute to service development, support analyser interfaces where required, participate in change control and risk management processes, and work collaboratively with colleagues across Pathology and Digital to ensure the effective delivery of safe and efficient services.
- As part of a small team, contribute to the provision of 24/7 support through participation in the on-call rota.
