Lecturer – Pathways
Location: Bedford College
Salary: £33,048 - £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications
Expires: 06/10/2026 23:59
Hours/Weeks: 15 hrs per week/52 Weeks
Contract Type: Permanent - Part time

About The Role
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Pathways to join the Pathways Department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Specialist SEND Teaching - Plan, deliver and assess high-quality learning for students with SEND across a range of entry-level programmes, including Preparing for Adulthood, English and maths qualifications.
- Student Progress & Support - Provide personalised teaching, tutorials and guidance that meet individual needs, monitoring progress and supporting students to overcome barriers, achieve their qualifications and realise their full potential.
- Curriculum Development & Innovation - Develop engaging learning materials, schemes of work and specialist provision, contributing to new programmes, vocational opportunities and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
- Assessment, Quality & Collaboration - Assess and moderate student work, maintain accurate progress records and contribute to quality processes, while working effectively with teaching and support staff to provide a consistent learning experience.
- Inclusive Practice & College Responsibilities - Create safe, inclusive and engaging learning environments, support College events and activities, and fulfil responsibilities for safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety, and ongoing professional development.
About You
Qualifications & Professional Training
- Relevant Level 3 or above subject qualification and a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification, alongside current safeguarding and equality and diversity training.
Teaching & Curriculum Experience
- Strong subject knowledge with proven experience of teaching, learning and assessment within FE or a similar setting, including curriculum development, inclusive practice and innovative teaching approaches.

Teaching, Digital & Organisational Skills
- Excellent communication, classroom management and organisational skills, with the ability to engage diverse learners, monitor progress, provide constructive feedback and confidently use Microsoft Office, online learning platforms and digital teaching tools.
Student-Focused & Collaborative Approach
- Committed to high-quality teaching and learner achievement, with the ability to build positive relationships, work collaboratively, maintain confidentiality and contribute to quality improvement and a supportive team culture.
Professional Standards & Flexibility
- Demonstrates integrity, adaptability and appropriate professional boundaries, with a strong commitment to safeguarding, EDI and continuous development, plus flexibility to travel between campuses and adapt working hours when required.

Bedford College has a number of sites across the town and surrounding areas, these include our main Cauldwell Street campus in the heart of the town, our hair and beauty salon on the High Street, the advanced automotive centre on Brunel Road and the gas and technology plumbing centre in Kempston.

The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
