NHS Band 8a Salary: £57,528 - £64,750 per annum

Hours Per Week: Full time 37.5 hrs

Contract Type: Permanent

We are recruiting for a Patient Safety Lead Midwife who wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS. You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care and work with us to ensure the Trust continues its journey towards "working together, improving together".

The Patient Safety Lead Midwife will report to and work in collaboration with the Director of Midwifery (DOM), Head of Midwifery (HOM), and the Clinical Lead Consultant Obstetrician to establish effective maternity governance systems focused on patient safety.

  • Lead the management of incidents, serious incidents, and formal internal investigations
  • Promote good practice in risk management and provide advice on the protection of patients, staff, visitors, and the Trust's assets
  • Promote the learning lessons from incidents, external reviews, and inquests to support improvements in the safety and quality of care
  • Support the effectiveness of the risk register

The Patient Safety Specialist, Risk & Governance Lead Midwife will work collaboratively with the greater team including the DOM, HOM, Maternity Safety Champions, Consultant Obstetricians, Deputy Heads of Midwifery and Consultant Midwife to ensure effective communications systems are in place for shared learning that optimises excellent standards of care and compliance with national and local standards.

  • Lead contact for safety, risk and governance responsibilities
  • Prepare and present assurance papers based on elements of safety risk and governance to the Maternity and Neonatal Safety Committee and in turn to the Trust Board
  • Representing the Maternity Service and Trust at regional meetings such the Local Maternity and Neonatal Systems (LMNS)
