Patient Safety Midwife
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated midwife to join our Women’s and Children’s Governance Team as a Patient Safety Midwife with lead responsibility for the Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT) process.
This is a substantive 15-hour-per-week role working across our maternity services. The post offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, with a combination of on-site working across both hospital sites and working from home, according to service requirements.
You will take a lead role in the coordination and delivery of the Trust's PMRT process, ensuring that reviews are timely, thorough, multidisciplinary and centred on the experiences and voices of women, birthing people and their families.
You will work closely with the maternity and neonatal colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team to support high-quality reviews, identify learning and ensure that recommendations contribute to meaningful and sustained improvements in maternity and neonatal care.
A key aspect of the role will be supporting sensitive and compassionate engagement with bereaved families, ensuring they are offered the opportunity to contribute to the review of their care and that their questions and perspectives are appropriately represented within the PMRT process.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
