Role Description
The Patient Transport Staff role is a full-time, on-site position based in Northampton. The role involves safely transporting patients to and from healthcare facilities and other approved locations, including those with high-dependency and complex needs.

- Assisting patients in and out of vehicles
- Ensuring comfort and dignity during journeys
- Following safety and infection-control protocols
The role requires close coordination with clinical teams, control room staff, and other transport professionals to plan routes, meet schedules, and respond to changing needs.
Responsibilities:
- Vehicle checks
- Basic equipment care
- Accurate completion of documentation
- Clear communication with patients, families, and colleagues
Qualifications
- Strong Transportation Planning and Transportation Management skills for organizing safe, efficient patient journeys.
- Analytical Skills and Operations Management experience to support route optimization, scheduling, and service reliability.
- Effective Communication skills for interacting with patients, families, clinical staff, and transport colleagues.
- Experience in patient transport, ambulance services, or related healthcare support roles is beneficial.
- Understanding of basic health and safety, moving and handling techniques, and infection-control practices.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, show empathy, and maintain professionalism in challenging situations.
- Valid driving license with a safe driving record; experience with larger vehicles or ambulances is an advantage.
- Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as service demands require.
