What’s the role about?

As our Pattern Cutter, you’ll play a key role in bringing Reiss collections to life, creating and developing high-quality patterns across multiple product categories. Working closely with our Design, Garment Technology and Sample Machinist teams, you’ll translate creative concepts into accurate, well-executed patterns that achieve the desired fit and aesthetic.

You’ll combine strong technical expertise with an understanding of fabric, fit and construction, helping to develop products from initial concept through to toile and final sample within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Who you are

  • Previous experience as a Pattern Cutter within a fashion environment, with experience working across multiple product categories.
  • Strong technical knowledge of pattern cutting, with proven experience using Gerber or similar CAD systems.
  • Confident working from designer sketches and draping on the stand to develop accurate and commercially viable patterns.
  • Strong understanding of fabrics, garment construction and how different fabrications can influence fit and pattern development.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • A collaborative team player who communicates confidently with Designers, Garment Technologists and Sample Machinists to bring creative concepts to life.

What you’ll be doing

  • Creating and developing patterns through draping and CAD, translating designer sketches into high-quality patterns that achieve the desired fit and aesthetic.
  • Working closely with Designers to fit toiles, understand the creative vision and action pattern amendments throughout the development process.
  • Continually reviewing and developing Reiss blocks to ensure they remain aligned with current style, fit and quality standards.
  • Creating layplans and calculating fabric consumption, while checking supplier main range and petite patterns for accuracy and consistency.
  • Working closely with the Print team to engineer print placements accurately onto patterns, ensuring the design is considered throughout development.
  • Preparing patterns, fabrics and relevant information for in-house sample machinists and local suppliers, supporting the smooth progression of toiles and samples.
  • Partnering with the Garment Technologist team throughout sample development, providing technical advice and amending patterns where required, including attending fit sessions.
  • Supporting the day-to-day running of the pattern room, managing workload and priorities while maintaining an organised, efficient and collaborative working environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
