About Spencer Ogden

At Spencer Ogden, we power progress across Critical Infrastructure, Natural Resources, Renewables & Sustainability, and Finance.

We’re a global specialist recruitment business, connecting exceptional people with the organisations shaping some of the world’s most important industries.

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Pay & Bill Specialist to join our Finance team and play a key role in ensuring our contractor payroll and client billing processes run smoothly, accurately and efficiently.

The Role

As a Pay & Bill Specialist, you’ll take ownership of the end-to-end pay and bill process across our contractor population, working closely with Finance, Payroll, Recruitment and Operations to ensure contractors are paid accurately and clients are billed correctly and on time.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, is highly organised and detail-focused, and is confident managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage the end-to-end pay and bill process for contractors across the business.
  • Ensure contractor timesheets, pay rates, expenses and billing information are accurate and processed within agreed deadlines.
  • Work closely with internal teams to resolve pay, bill and timesheet queries quickly and effectively.
  • Liaise with clients and contractors where required to resolve discrepancies and ensure a smooth process.
  • Review and validate billing information, ensuring invoices are accurate and issued on time.
  • Support the reconciliation of contractor payroll and client billing data.
  • Identify and investigate discrepancies, escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure processes are followed consistently.
  • Support month-end activities and wider Finance requirements.
  • Contribute to improving Pay & Bill processes, systems and controls as the business continues to grow.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
