The role

As a Payment Authoriser/Administrator, you will provide a payment review and authorisation service across the business while supporting the wider Milton Keynes Finance team with administrative activities. Working within Finance, you will help ensure payments are processed accurately, records are maintained to a high standard, regulatory requirements are met, and internal and external stakeholders receive an efficient and professional service.

What you'll be doing

  • Review payment requests and ensure appropriate authorisation controls and procedures are followed.
  • Process and maintain payment records accurately and in line with company standards.
  • Resolve payment and account queries promptly, escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Monitor business unit issues and provide relevant updates and management information.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records across company systems and documentation.
  • Complete filing, scanning and administrative activities to support the Finance team.
  • Produce documents, reports and correspondence as required.
  • Support projects and wider team initiatives, contributing to the achievement of business objectives.
  • Apply company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements in all aspects of the role.
  • Respond effectively to urgent issues and changing business priorities while maintaining service standards.

Who we're looking for

  • Previous experience working within an office, administration, finance or customer service environment is beneficial.
  • Experience processing transactions, handling queries or maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to work accurately and consistently while meeting processing deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with a range of stakeholders.
  • Competent Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience following policies, procedures and control processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  • An understanding of insurance market processes and procedures would be advantageous.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Good numeracy skills and the ability to work accurately with financial information.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and development within a regulated environment.
