Contract Role: Payment Control Analyst (VP)

Contract Location: London, Glasgow or Northampton office based 2-3 days per week, the rest remote

Contract Start: ASAP

Contract Duration: Full time role (Monday to Friday) 6 months initially (inside IR35)

About the Role

Deloitte Operations are seeking a Payment Control Analyst (VP). Lead and own the Payment Control Gateway (PCG) operating model, ensuring robust execution of payment controls at scale, effective risk-based decisioning, and delivery of a controlled, auditable and production-ready framework to prevent erroneous payments across Global Markets.

Ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and our clients internal Policies and Policy Standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery and execution of the payment control operating model across regions
  • Provide leadership and oversight of AVP and Analyst teams executing daily payment control activities
  • Ensure consistent and effective decisioning across stop / review / release processes
  • Own escalation framework for high-risk, complex or ambiguous payment scenarios
  • Maintain accountability for control effectiveness, auditability and adherence to risk frameworks
  • Drive root cause analysis across exceptions and erroneous payment events, ensuring systemic issues are identified and resolved
  • Partner with Technology and SMEs to define and refine rule logic, thresholds and control design
  • Own MI and reporting for volumes, outcomes, control performance and risk indicators for senior stakeholders
  • Engage with Front Office, Operations, Risk and Technology leadership to ensure end-to-end control coverage and drive engagement escalation to resolve complex scenarios, where cannot independently verify, where there’s any doubt/queries and direct answers from the services as to the rationale/process for the payment are required
  • Lead transition from manual control execution to scalable and automated Payment Control Gateway capabilities

  • Extensive experience in Global Markets Operations, payments or post-trade environments
  • Strong understanding of payment flows, settlement lifecycle and operational risk
  • Proven experience leading operational teams in high-risk, high-volume environments
  • Demonstrated ability to make senior risk-based decisions under pressure
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with focus on root cause resolution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in payment control, transaction monitoring or risk/control frameworks
  • Knowledge of FX, Derivatives, Collateral or Financing products
  • Experience working with rule-based and AI/ML control environments
  • Strong stakeholder management across Operations, Technology and Front Office
  • Track record of driving operational transformation and automation initiatives
