This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Payments Solution Architect based in United Kingdom.
This is a strategic and hands-on role at the intersection of digital payments, financial technology, and quality engineering.
You will shape and scale payment testing solutions for complex, enterprise-grade transaction environments.
The role combines technical architecture, commercial strategy, client advisory, and delivery leadership.
You will design offerings, methodologies, staffing models, and pricing while solving sophisticated payment-quality challenges.
Working closely with clients, sales, delivery teams, and technology partners, you will influence high-impact business opportunities.
You will also help define the future of payments testing through thought leadership, innovation, and industry engagement.

Accountabilities
- Shape the payments offering: Define, launch, package, and continuously evolve payment testing services, including the offering catalog, methodologies, staffing approaches, and pricing models.
- Set strategic direction: Develop and communicate a forward-looking vision for payments testing, identifying market opportunities, competitive trends, and innovative approaches that can expand the business.
- Drive commercial growth: Partner with sales teams on enterprise opportunities, participate in client conversations, advise prospects on payments testing strategies and ROI, and contribute expertise to pipeline development.
- Build strategic partnerships: Work with alliances teams and external technology, payments, commerce, and consulting partners to develop joint go-to-market opportunities.
- Design technical solutions: Analyze complex digital transaction architectures and create tailored quality engineering strategies for mobile payments, wallets, payment gateways, online banking, POS systems, and emerging agentic payment environments.
- Provide hands-on delivery expertise: Act as a senior subject-matter expert and escalation point, supporting engagements from initial scoping through test execution and delivery reviews.
- Resolve complex technical challenges: Troubleshoot payment integrations and quality-engineering roadblocks while protecting transaction integrity, security, compliance, and reliability across markets and payment instruments.
- Elevate client and delivery capabilities: Introduce new technical approaches, methodologies, and best practices to help delivery teams and enterprise clients improve their payments testing maturity.
- Lead thought leadership: Represent the payments testing vision through white papers, articles, webinars, conference presentations, industry discussions, and other external communications.
- Influence without direct authority: Inspire and coordinate distributed, cross-functional teams while building strong relationships with technical specialists, business leaders, clients, and partners.

Requirements
- 10+ years of deep payments experience, with strong knowledge of digital payment ecosystems such as mobile payments, online banking, payment gateways, digital wallets, and point-of-sale systems.
- Strong quality engineering expertise, including a technical understanding of API integrations, software development methodologies, and testing practices within financial or transaction-heavy environments.
- Proven solution architecture and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex transaction flows, identify integration issues, and establish structured evaluation criteria.
- Client-facing consulting or managed-services experience, ideally involving technical discovery, solution design, advisory work, and engagement with enterprise stakeholders.
- Commercial and strategic acumen, including experience developing service offerings, understanding cost-to-serve considerations, and collaborating with sales, alliances, and partner organizations.
- Strong systems-thinking and problem-solving abilities, with intellectual curiosity, creativity, adaptability, and a continuous-learning mindset.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly through written, visual, and verbal formats to both engineering teams and senior business executives.
- Strong leadership and influencing capabilities, with experience motivating distributed, cross-functional teams without relying on direct people-management authority.
- Master's degree in Finance, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Experience with payments innovation, emerging transaction technologies, or agentic payment systems is advantageous.
- Candidates should be comfortable working in a fully remote, globally distributed environment and collaborating effectively across time zones.
