Job Description
We're looking for a Payments Solution Architect to join our growing team in London. This is a senior architectural leadership role focused on shaping and delivering enterprise-scale payment platforms across card processing, gateway services, settlement, reconciliation and financial management capabilities.
You will combine deep payments domain expertise with strong solution architecture skills, helping clients modernise and transform critical payment ecosystems built on Java/Kotlin, cloud-native and event-driven architectures.
This role suits someone who thrives in complex environments and operates confidently at the intersection of business strategy, payment operations and technical execution. You will engage across the full lifecycle, from discovery and architectural shaping through to delivery oversight, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, commercially viable and aligned to long-term platform strategy.
The role supports payment transformation initiatives across one or more of the following value streams:
- Billing, Settlement & Reconciliation
- Payment Processing
What you'll be doing
- Design and review scalable, resilient payment architectures capable of supporting high transaction volumes and demanding availability requirements.
- Define and govern non-functional requirements including latency, throughput, availability, recoverability, observability and security.
- Shape API strategies, integration models and event-driven architectures that support extensibility, compliance and operational resilience.
- Define target architectures and integration patterns across payment ecosystems and enterprise platforms.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, operations teams and engineering teams to ensure architecture decisions support business objectives.
- Participate in architecture governance forums and represent Endava with clarity and authority.
- Support pre-sales and bid activities by defining credible, commercially grounded target-state solutions.
- Translate architectural decisions into clear executive narratives, articulating trade-offs, risks and investment implications.
- Provide architecture oversight throughout delivery, ensuring implementation remains aligned to agreed architectural principles and standards.
- Support payment platform modernisation initiatives leveraging cloud-native and event-driven architectures.
- Contribute to architectural decisions across broader platform and enterprise initiatives where required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
