Description

At Corston, we design and engineer beautifully crafted switches, sockets, lighting and hardware for homes around the world.

As our business continues to grow across the UK, Europe and the United States, we're looking for a Payroll & Finance Assistant to join our Finance team. This role offers the opportunity to gain broad exposure across payroll, finance operations and supply chain finance within a fast-growing international business.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in finance, broaden their experience and build specialist payroll knowledge within a collaborative and ambitious team.

The Role

Reporting to the UK Finance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate processing of payroll, employee expenses and supply chain finance transactions.

You will work closely with colleagues across Finance, Operations and Supply Chain to ensure transactions are processed on time, records are maintained accurately and queries are resolved professionally.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail-focused and comfortable managing recurring deadlines while maintaining exceptional levels of accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll & CIS (Construction Industry Scheme)

  • Support the end-to-end monthly payroll process.
  • Process payroll changes including starters, leavers, salary amendments and benefits.
  • Assist with pension submissions and payroll reconciliations.
  • Process and review employee expense claims.
  • Support CIS administration and payment processing.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee finance data.
  • Respond to payroll and expense-related queries from employees.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements.

Supply Chain Finance & Accounts Payable

  • Process stock supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and goods receipts.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies.
  • Support weekly supplier payment runs.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding payment queries.
  • Maintain accurate supplier records and documentation.

Banking & Month-End

  • Assist with bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and currencies.
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support month-end close activities and reporting.
  • Assist with cash flow monitoring and forecasting.
  • Ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll and accounts payable processes.
  • Support finance system developments and reporting improvements.
  • Contribute to strengthening financial controls and procedures.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • 3-5 years' experience within a finance, payroll or accounts role.
  • Experience supporting payroll processing.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Confident communicator with a collaborative approach.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Desirable

  • Experience using payroll systems such as Paycircle or similar.
  • Experience processing supplier invoices and reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of CIS.
  • Experience using NetSuite or a similar ERP system.
  • AAT qualified or working towards an AAT qualification.

This is a full time, office based role at our headquarters in Malmesbury, Wiltshire.

We enjoy working together in person and find it creates a faster learning curve, stronger relationships and better collaboration across the business. Being based at our headquarters also gives you the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in Corston and learn from the people around you.

Our office is located just outside Malmesbury and is not accessible by public transport, so you will need access to your own transport.
