About the Organisation
Our client is a large, established UK organisation operating across multiple sectors, with a diverse workforce and a strong national presence.
The business provides a range of products and services to customers across the UK and has a significant workforce operating across multiple sites. As part of its continued growth and focus on operational excellence, the organisation is looking to strengthen its central Payroll and HR function.
The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join an established Payroll and HR team.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the organisation's Time & Attendance and Payroll processes, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining high standards of confidentiality, compliance, and data accuracy.
This would suit an experienced payroll professional who enjoys working with numbers, has strong Excel skills, and is comfortable working to tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate employee records within the payroll system, ensuring information is handled securely and in accordance with GDPR.
- Process weekly working hours and payroll information accurately and within agreed deadlines.
- Input, check, and validate payroll information including overtime, deductions, absence, adjustments, and other payroll amendments.
- Support the full payroll process and provide assistance to colleagues within the Payroll team as required.
- Assist with statutory payroll reporting and submissions to HMRC, including FPS and EPS.
- Support pension administration and ensure employee and employer contributions are processed correctly.
- Act as a first point of contact for payroll-related queries, investigating and resolving issues promptly.
- Produce payroll reports and management information as required.
- Assist with payroll, HR, and process-improvement projects.
- Provide wider administrative support to the HR function when required.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive employee and payroll information.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 2 years' experience working in payroll processing.
- A sound understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
- Experience working with payroll and Time & Attendance systems.
- Excellent numerical ability and a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills; experience with VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and data analysis would be advantageous.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to strict deadlines.
- A proactive, practical, and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- A strong customer-service mindset and the confidence to deal with payroll queries professionally.
Qualifications
- GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
- A recognised payroll qualification, such as a CIPP qualification, would be advantageous.
- Candidates who do not currently hold a professional payroll qualification but are willing to work towards one will also be considered.

Working Environment
This is an office-based position working as part of an established Payroll and HR team.
The role is offered on a part-time basis, 4 days per week (32 hours). Some flexibility around working hours may be required during particularly busy periods, including weekly payroll processing and year-end activity.
